How to get that Pinterest-Perfect newborn session!
hey there!
Thank you so much for choosing me to capture such a special moment in your families life! My goal is to give you your dream newborn photos. You’re probably so busy planning the baby arrival that the last thing you have time to do is plan the little details of your newborn session. I’d love to make it easier for you!
This is a little guide I made to help you create a newborn session you will love, forever. This is just a guide, you do not have to take any of my advice if you don’t want to. This is your session, your family, and your money going into it. You can do whatever you want with you time!
COLORS + TONES
The colors you chose to wear for the photos make such a big difference with how the final/edited photos look! Ask yourself, what do you want your photos to look like? There is only so much I can do with editing to make the tones you wanted show up.
*For the best photo example purposes, I am not using my own photos, but chose ones that match my photography style
soft and light
The baby is wearing a very soft pastel color, he is wrapped in an ivory blanket. Also, notice the location, the basket is probably placed by a window, in a very well lit room. Natural light allows this photo to be very bright and light.
earthy contrast
This image has a lot more contrast than the first. The onesie against the white blanket helps create that pretty contrast. I also love the texture of the white blanket. Tip: try playing around with different types of fabric patterns/textures/and designs.
Also, notice how pretty the basket looks! It frames the photo so well. Similar basket here.
warm
The orange blanket makes the tones in the photo so cozy and warm. Having a little accent outfit/blanket/toy can really change the tones in a photo.
Pi Baby Boutique in Boise has one of my favorite baby products. Im sure you could find a blanket similar to this one there!
dark earthy colors
This photo doese’t have as much contrast between the onesie and blanket, but there are definitely darker/cooler tones. This is such a beautiful palette of darker earthy tones.
Whats your color pallet going to be?!
Don’t be afraid to incorporate patterns into your outfits/accessories! Stripes, polka dots, flowers, etc.
PROPS + ACCESSORIES
Little props are always fun to use in photos. They may seem like an unimportant part in your newborn session, but Id like to show you some photo examples and I think it would make you rethink utilizing them!
